3 Passive Things People Do to Become Intellectual

Being intellectual is sophisticated and really attractive. Most people attracted to people who are intellectual because those people are rational and able to think on their feet. In my experience, being intellectual doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to have a high academic degree, for example, Ph.D.

Don’t get me wrong, I do not have anything against the university, but it’s just that there is nothing much to do with academia when it comes to intellect. Someone who highly performs in the academic field doesn’t necessarily make them intellectual in some sense. I know you find it hard to understand this idea because there is a fine line between being smart and intellectual.

Anyway, being intellectual is one of the things that I believe most people try to achieve. People are biologically different, so it’s hard for them to be equal in intellect.

However, there are things that you guys can do to be more intellectual. Before we dive into this topic, I want to give you some examples of intellectual people that I have known on the internet first.

You guys might have known them already.

The first one is my role model. He is Dr. Jordan Peterson. If you guys love his works like I do, you are likely to listen to his podcast and watch his videos on YouTube already, and I know you are impressed by how good he is when he talks and speaks to anyone. That guy is critical, and he is so sophisticated.

The other examples might be Ben Shapiro, Sam Harris, also, Joe Rogan, and many more. Excuse me, if I haven’t stated your favorite person, but if you have, please comment their names below in the comment section, I will check them out.

Okay, now let’s get into our topic today.

1. Read a lot of books

I know it might sound obvious that reading books is important and essential to becoming more critical and intelligent. However, there are more things I want you to focus on when it comes to reading books. Firstly, you have to choose the right books. I mean, you can’t read novels and expect to become really intellectual and critical, right?

I have nothing against reading novels. I also read them a lot until now, and it gives me a lot of benefits too. Besides the romantic things in novels, I also get to learn about the characters’ perspectives and stuff like that. The bottom line is it doesn’t relate to the intellectual stuff much, but you can read them sometimes if you want, according to your preference.

I have already recommended some books in my previous post so if you want to check them out, please click the link below.

Why Do You Change After Pain and How to Be Better After Being Broken (Everyone is broken to some extent)

Alright, after you choose the books you want to read, read them with great attention. Think about it. Put yourself in the author’s perspective, and let’s see how you feel about it. What would you do if you were them? Usually, the books include the stories that you can think through.

Then, note it down. The quotes. The sentences, and everything that interest and impress you in the books. You can write or highlight them so that you can use it in the future when you face difficulty in your life. I know it’s not much, but a few words of wisdom might also be helpful in those difficult times.

2. Listen to Podcasts

I highly recommend Podcasts if you are not a fan of books. You can also listen to books as well. Besides, there are many good podcasts out there for you to binge at night after a long day. You can find a bunch of good Podcasts about intellectual stuff like the interview between two or more people, and let’s see what their perspectives are. Also, you can listen to self-development Podcasts that might help to improve yourself as well. The better you become, the more intellectual you are.

Here are some Podcasts I listen to regularly:

1. The Joe Rogan Experience

2. The Jordan B. Peterson Podcast

3. Make friends who have the same interest and discuss it

Here is the fun part. You discuss it. Find a few friends who have the same interest. Discuss it with them, and see what happens. It’s so much fun.

However, some people might find it hard because their friends might not like the same things they do.

If it happens to you, you don’t have worry about that.

I got you.

You can go to Reddit, and find a subreddit that talks about that anonymously, or you can join Jordan Peterson’s telegram group that is made for that kind of discussion.

Well, that’s it.

See you guys in the next post.

Hope you like it, and don’t forget to share it if you find this post useful.
